Safeguarding for Governors and Trustees

On-demand course: watch at a time that suits you

A practical two-hour course for governors and trustees on the strategic oversight of safeguarding under KCSIE 2026. It covers what the board is responsible for, the questions governors should be asking, and how to test whether safeguarding in your school is effective rather than simply compliant.

In this course

  • What governors need to read: the parts of KCSIE 2026 that apply to them, and the role of the named safeguarding governor
  • Legal duties: what the board is accountable for, and three questions every governor should be able to answer confidently
  • Recognising abuse: the safeguarding continuum, the four categories of abuse, and the definition changes for 2026
  • Online safety: the four Cs, testing your filtering, and the risks of AI-generated images
  • Culture and assurance: lessons from the Neil Foden case, and how to test whether safeguarding is effective, not just compliant

Who it's for
